Reminder, a few tips for playing:

  • Do not be surprised if you have unused cards after solving a puzzle as not all cards are used right away. At the start of each new day you will be asked to discard cards that are no longer relevant. Be sure to pay close attention to the trash icon on each new day card.
  • Clues are provided in the introduction leaflet. They are written in reverse to save spoiling things. To read them simply hold them up to a mirror.

Last warning for spoilers ... here come the solutions.

Day 1

Looking at the names on the North Pole elf elections only one name is not a palindrome. A palindrome is a word that reads the same backwards as forwards.

The solution is Willow.

Day 2

The key to solving this puzzle is the torn off piece of paper on card 11 - you’ll use it to reveal a riddle hidden within the playlist. You’ll notice there are 10 sets of lines and also 10 song titles. Each set of lines refers to a word in a song title.

The first set shows one line which refers to the word ‘I’ in the first song. The second set shows five lines and refers to the word ‘can’ in the second song. The third set shows three lines and refers to the word 'be' in the third song. Etc.

The complete riddle reads ‘I can be a fall a flake or a storm”.

The answer, Snow, can be placed before all these words to create snowfall, snowflake and snowstorm.

The solution is Snow.

Day 3

The playing cards on card 14 reveal two names. To solve each name you’ll use the number on each individual card as well as its suit. The number refers to the position of a letter in the card’s suit name.

A 1 club, for example, refers to the 1st letter of the word club. The answer is the letter 'C'.

A 4 on a heart card, for example, is the letter 'R'.

The solutions are Chance and Harper.

Day 4

Use Mrs Claus Figgy Pudding recipe to reveal your next location.

The quantity needed of each ingredient refers to a letter in it's name. In the first ingredient (6 black treacle) use the sixth letter of the ingredient 'black treacle' and write down the letter 'T'.

Do this for all the ingredients and then read them all, from top to bottom.

The solution is Toy Workshop.

Day 5

The key to deciphering the hidden message (on card 20) is the ‘Access is Restricted’ sign pinned to the workshop entrance (on card 19). You’ll notice the letters A and E are highlighted.

Every letter ‘E’ in the message can be decoded to the letter ‘A’.

If you carry on the alphabet you can determine that the letters F therefore equals the letter B, the letter G = C, H = D etc.

The complete message reads : “The next elf for your suspect list has the name of a bird”

When looking at the Elf Employees list there are several elves who have a name that is also that of a bird. The sign mentions that 'Only elves employed in this department can enter'. Therefore the only elf, whose name is also a bird, who works in the Toy Workshop is Robin.

Note: The 'Investigation Notes' (card 10) has a colour key to departments found on the Elf Employees List.

The solution is Robin.

Day 6

The two lines are a reflection. Flip the bottom line and complete the segments into the top section to reveal the location.

The solution is Post Office.

Day 7

You’ll have to use the clues given to solve the number code here, I’m afraid.

The solution is 32897.

Day 8

Only some of the letters are capitalized - read them in order.

The solution is Walter.

Day 9

The dials (on card 34) are orientated like a clock face and each point to a number. The blue dial, for example, points to the number 7, the red dial to number 1.

The correct order of the dials can be found on your 'Investigation Notes' (card 10) and is red, green, blue and purple.

The solution is 13710.

Day 10

Imagine all the pipes (on card 37) are full to the top. Fill in the missing letters of the incomplete pipes. Using the completed pipe on the left as an example you can learn that the letters complete in ascending order.

Once you have completed the 5 pipes read the letter at the top of each pipe, from left to right, and reveal a name.

The solution is Grace.

Day 11

Notice the colorful lines on the identity card (card 39) and the word ‘MATCH’ on the left hand side.

The lines here match the department codes on the Elf Employees List cards (cards 05, 06, and 07).

Lay the identity card over the Elf Employees Lists and find a matching pattern. When you find a perfect match look at the first letter of each associated elf name. They spell the name of your next suspect.

The solution is Magic.

Day 12

Today has two puzzles to solve.

Firstly, look at the returned books; there is a hidden message. Read left to right and make a note of the first letter of every book title. It reads 'Last word of tall book'. The tallest book is called 'Trimming a Pudding', and 'Pudding' is your answer.

Secondly, look at the Book of Puzzles; they are all muddled up. You’ll have to cut them up and rearrange them.

The solutions are Pudding and Sparkle.

Day 13

You’ll first need to complete the alphabet on card 17 to unlock the computer.

Paying close attention to the letters ‘d’ and ‘h’ that have already been populated you can notice that the spots move around clockwise on the stars - from left to right. In addition, every other line has the addition of a spot in the centre.

Once two full rotations has happened, an additional dot is added and the pattern starts again.

The solution is Yuletide.

Day 14

First, use the Tinsel Town plan (card 44) to record the correct placement for the shops on the Tinsel Town map (card 46). Make sure you record the colour of each as this is important.

For reference: Arctic Apothecary is located top left, Candy Cane Confectionery is located top right. Boreal Bookshop is middle left, Magical Merriment Pub is middle right. Nancy's Nutcrackers is bottom left and the Ye Old North Pole Shop is bottom right.

Then, using the security report (card 47) follow the path of each of the seven security alerts and trace a line between the locations on your map. Each will give you a number that you need to enter on the card. Your 'Investigation Notes' (card 10) shows you how to correctly input numbers.

Lastly, orientate the card so the calculator is the right way round ; the number will read the name when upside down.

The solution is Giggles.

Day 15

There are two names to solve here.

First, hold the winter ball ticket flat, with the barcode to the right, and squint your eyes whilst slowly rotating the card to read a message hidden in the barcode.

Secondly, gather the World Map (card 18) and the destination list (card 32). You’ll use them to plot three paths between the countries the dishes on the Winter Ball Menu originate from. There are 3 courses - starter, main and a pudding and 3 paths to complete. Each path will reveal a number, that when read in order correspond to an Elf ID number.

The solutions are Boots and Chip.

Day 16

Adding the numbers on each clock face together gives you a number. That number corresponds to a letter in the alphabet. The first clock face, for example, is the number 14. The 14th letter of the alphabet is ’N’.

The solution is Niko.

Day 17

Within the sinister note are hidden numbers. Here is where they are located:

1 - someONE

8 - wEIGHTed

7 - chocolateS EVEN

2 - saT WOndering

3 - wiTH REExamining

6 - SIX

The solution is 187236.

Day 18

Use a mobile phone handset to decipher the message. Looking at the keypad, you’ll notice that there are letters underneath each number. The amount of times a number is repeated in the sequence refers to the letter to use.

Looking at the first line, for example - 6 = M, 2 = A, 8 = T, 222 = C, 44 = H

The complete message reads “MATCH ALL COLOURS THE MIDDLE GIVES MY NAME”

The colors refers to the wire on card 59. Find a matching pattern on the Elf Employee List and use the middle colour, the white, to reveal the elf name.

The solution is Jangles.

Day 19

Cut out all the presents you have collected and place them on top of their matching symbols on card 63. Using the instructions Clare left, “Don’t believe a word, or colour” slide a present into the first empty space.

The first empty space and starting position is the word BLUE, written in RED, which means when we follow the rules a GREEN gift must cover it. Slide an adjacent green gift into it's place and reveal the next word - RED, written in GREEN. Cover it with a BLUE gift and continue moving the cards in this manner until the END is revealed. In the final position the letter 'T' will be visible. There is only one elf whose names begins with the letter 'T'.

The solution is Tate.

Day 20

The symbols on card 64 can also be found on card 21. On card 21 notice that the instructions are noted as being for ‘The Qwerty 500’. Qwerty refers to a standard keyboard layout. Knowing this information, and using a keyboard, make a note of where each letter of the alphabet is placed and decode your next suspect.

The solution is Mittens.

Day 21

To solve this puzzle you need cards 22, 23 and 65.

Notice that the floor plan (card 23) uses the same grid pattern as the toys taped up on the Toy Workshop wall (card 66). Use the inspection route (card 22) to identify the areas Santa will be inspecting, and use both cards 23 and 66, to identify a toy.

To solve the elf name use the first letter for each toy identified.

The solution is Crackle.

Day 22

Cut out all the dominos and organize them into a line of matching word pairs. Here is the correct order:

Start > Advent > Arrival - Chimney > Flue > Noel > Yule > Candy > Sweets > Angel > Spirit > Cold > Chilly > Feast > Devour > Sleigh > Sledge > Jolly > Merry > Tinsel

Using the ‘Rules of Dominoes’ on your 'Investigation Notes' (card 10) complete the sum using the numbers in the middle of each domino tile. The result of the sum, 200, points to the ID of an elf.

The solution is Monty.

Day 23

To complete today’s puzzle you’ll need a few components: cards 03, 10, 21, 55, 68 and 70.

Notice that cards 10, 21, 55 and 68 each have a series of 8 letters in different colours on them ; in green, blue, orange and red.

These four colours match the colors of the shapes hanging within the garland on Santa's announcement (card 70). The colours of the garland shapes indicate which set of letters to use, but not which letter.

To identify which letter look at the Elf Suspect Sheet (card 03) that you have been completing. Did you spot the same decorations on the top? There are 8, they read from left to right.

To solve the puzzle look at the first item hanging on Santa's announcement (card 70). It is a green present which identifies that you need to use the green letters and the present symbol.

The present symbols is the 6th shape hanging on the Elf Suspect Sheet which indicates you need to use the 6th green letter - the letter M.

The solution is Mistletoe.

Day 24

Gather cards 72, 73, 74 and 75 use tape to stick them together, as indicated, and form the Great North Hall. Notice that on the walls there are 10 coloured flags - each flag represents one of the 10 elf names left on your suspect sheet. The flag colours indicates the department they work in. There will be one elf from each department.

Place your finger on the starting flag and read the poem. For each new word read aloud point to the next flag in order. Use the arrow to know the direction. When the colour on a word read aloud AND the flag match that suspect can be eliminated. Mark a cross and continue the poem, do not stop on them again. Continue until only one flag/elf is left.

The solution is Jangles.
